Executive Bios

 

John O’Brien, Susan O’Brien and Mary Cwikla co-founded Central Coast Senior Services, Inc. in 1996. John O’Brien brings more than 20 years of professional experience in the health care industry to his role as CEO and owner of Central Coast Senior Services, Inc. (CCSS). He is responsible for the design, promotion, and delivery of quality CCSS programs, products, and services. John has provided leadership for numerous local non-profit organizations. (Click here to see John’s full bio)

Susan O’Brien is Director of Education, having served as Vice President of Human Resources for the past twelve years. In that role, she was responsible for developing policy and directing human resources activities, such as employment, compensation, labor relations, benefits, training, and employee services. Susan’s prior healthcare experience includes 20 years as a surgical technician and office manager for a large, multi-office oral surgery practice. She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management and the Central Coast Human Resource Association. Mrs. O’Brien has volunteered for the SPCA of Monterey County, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Coalition for Companion Animals, and has participated in the Meal on Wheels’ Women Who Care campaign. Mrs. O’Brien is a member of the Monterey County Animal Control Advisory Board, and volunteers with the Arthritis Foundation Central California Chapter in Monterey County.

Mary Cwikla, co-founder of Central Coast Senior Services, Inc. is the Vice President of Administrative Services, overseeing staffing and the day-to-day administrative operations of the company. Ms. Cwikla has extensive experience working for home care agencies in the Monterey area. She worked with Victorian Home Care in staffing, served as Director of Staffing for Country Home Care, and helped open Community Home Care.

Prior to working in home care, Ms. Cwikla held civic roles in a number of municipalities, and traveled extensively, living for several years in Turkey as well as in Wyoming, where she raised her three children.

 


Dana Marshall is Director of Human Resources. She has over 20 years of management and consulting experience in Organizational Development and Human Resources Management. She holds a BA in Psychology from the University of California at Santa Barbara and is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR).  Dana started her career in HR in Silicon Valley, working in high technology companies such as Netscape Communications and America Online.  After moving to the Monterey Peninsula, she continued to expand her experience to include industries such as health-care, banking, agriculture and hospitality.

Dana has consulted with management teams on a variety of human resource issues, including developing goals and strategies to achieve business objectives, conducting formal needs assessments of organizations, and designing and facilitating management team building programs and employee assimilation programs. She also has experience in designing, developing and delivering a wide variety of management training. Dana has coached and counseled scores of managers on effective employee-relations techniques to help reduce turnover, limit liability, and effectively meet mandated state and federal employment regulatory compliance.

Dana served as President of the Central Coast Human Resources Association (CCHRA), is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management, is an active volunteer with the YMCA of the Monterey Peninsula, and teaches the HR Essentials college-level series of courses for Brandman University.

 

Kelly Braithwaite, Chief Financial Officer, has been with CCSS since 2006 and is responsible for accounting and financial policy and systems and procedures for the accounting department. He provides the organization with strategic financial planning and is responsible for all financial reporting. He is committed to superior customer service to clients in their financial relationship with the company.

Mr. Braithwaite brought over thirty years experience as a financial officer and commercial banker to Central Coast Senior Services, Inc. and holds a B.S. in Finance and an M.B.A.

He has served the community on the Board of Directors of Health Projects Center in Santa Cruz, as an adult leader with the Boy Scouts of America, an advisor with Junior Achievement and as a member of  Community of Care Leadership – San Jose/Silicon Valley.

Tracey Love, Director of Community Relations,  is responsible for business development, community and media outreach.   Her focus is to partner and collaborate with professionals in the community, providing resources and education to help navigate the challenges of aging in place.

Prior to joining Central Coast Senior Services, Inc. Tracey held Branch Management and Marketing Director positions locally and statewide in Eldercare and was a financial services professional with Charles Schwab & Co., Inc.
